Earth Day 2017, April 22: Presentation in Victoria BC

Just a quick reminder that we will give a presentation about our cross Canada trip in an electric car with camping trailer during the Sustainability Showcase Event at the Royal BC Museum, Victoria BC, Lecture Room, on April 22, 11am – noon. 

Please make sure you order your tickets online or buy them at Lyle’s Place, 770 Yates St., Victoria BC prior to Saturday!

We will also show our car and camping trailer during this event right in front of the Museum’s entrance from 10am – 5pm.

‘Racing Extinction’ Changed Me

Profoundly.

On April 20, we happened to be in Houston TX on our way home to Victoria BC. The same day, Houston’s Rice University was screening the movie ‘Racing Extinction’. And to top it off, my inspiration # 2, right after Elon Musk, Leilani Münter, was going to be there as well. I was VERY excited to meet her, the ‘vegan hippie chick race car driver’ and environmentalist who drove the Tesla with the big projector and electroluminescent paint in the movie.

I had watched ‘Racing Extinction’ before. It made me cry then; it made me cry again in Houston.

Anxiety Rising!!!

Just in case you guys started to wonder why I keep writing about the Bahamas, I wanted to reassure you that this blog is – or will be – about our cross Canada trip, Victoria BC to St. John’s NL, in a Tesla Model X, promoting sustainable energy and transportation. It just so happens that we currently are in the Bahamas, and some of my experiences and thoughts here have an environmental aspect that I decided was worthwhile sharing in this blog. A Climate Change Legend turns 80!

David Suzuki is a legend, not only in Canada. A long time activist against climate change he’ll be celebrating his 80th birthday on March 24. When reflecting on his life, David wrote “For more than 25 years, I’ve studied and communicated about the seriousness of the climate crisis. It was the main reason my wife, Tara, and I joined other thinkers to start an environmental organization, which we named the David Suzuki Foundation (a name I initially rejected) — now celebrating its 25th year!” Read more.
